Week 1 - Tutorial House Design

For this tutorial we used the basic tools we had learnt to create a house-like design. The tools learnt were: aligning, rotating, scaling and drawing. First I created a pillar for which the cone shaped roof would sit on. Using the aligning features I was able to put the cone ontop of the pillar and check by using the 4 different screens to see if it was level. I then cloned this pillar by using the shift button and dragging the image along.

Next the gap between the pillars was filled by a box shape. Infront of this I placed another long box shape and created a roof using a cylinder and modifying the sides to 3 so that it made a prism. This would be the basis for my roof and had to fiddle around with the rotation tools until I was happy with the positioning.

Lastly, I added doors and windows using the standard primatives drop down menu til I found windows and doors object designs. This was tricky to make doors and windows and think that a bit more time is required in trying to make them correct. My design is shown below:

For a first attempt in 3D Studio Max I am happy with my outcome, I found it challenging to create even though it is a simple design. I look forward to exploring more features within Studio Max.
